New of the “Wonders” have spread across the world. News of a winged woman, a blur named the Flash and a man in Green and the existence of the Atom, an up until now wonder of the World Army. Also news of rapid regrowth of the world vegetation after the devastation caused by Grundy and the Grey.
Using the clues presented to her in person and in media HawkGirl, or rather Kendra Munozsaunders, deduces Alan Scott is the Green Lantern. She tries to convince him they need to be a team and Alan rejects the idea again. They continue to discuss the topic until HawkGirl shots an arrow through a the ring and into a photo of Sam pinning it to his wall. Enraged Alan called the ring to him but before he can act HawkGirl is gone.
Commander Khan finds himself working with the Mass Murderer Terrance (Terry) Sloan. The World Council has made him Head of the World Army Science Directive. Commander Khan is silent in his rage and plays along with the game.
Khan is determined to discover Sloan’s secrets. Sloan has declared where he’s been hiding to the World Council or at least declared enough to keep the World Council happy. Meanwhile Khan’s operatives find one of Sloan’s secret secret hideouts in Paris. Using the Sandmen they infiltrate the base with the goal of find Michael Holt aka Mr Terrific. They find him and but he quickly takes down most of the Sandmen before being knocked out. Somehow Sloan has reprogrammed Mr Terrific to serve him without question. But more importantly, why is Terry so important that Sloan risked being captured, to come out of hiding, to get him.
Sloan meanwhile has started work on the Red Tornado project.
Wes, leader of the Sandmen is working with Khan to uncover Sloan’s secrets.
I have a bad feeling about Wes’s and Khan’s allegiance. Not sure who’s work for who and who’s double crossing who. The cover of this issue was VERY misleading. I mean covers usually are but this was more so than others. I still want to know why Alan is against standing with other heroes to fight the coming darkness. Always the top man maybe? Oh well, maybe he’ll come round. Our little Tomb Raider, or should I say HawkGirl found something in those raids and pow, got wings…. look forward to that back story. And I wonder what Flash’s “personal matters” are that he didn’t meet Alan with Kendra.
It also seems to be Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman survived Sloans detonation of the “rapture generator” and a year later they died as per Alan Scott’s documentary, and Sloan went into hiding, hence his criminal status. Hmmmm still not sure.
