|Story/s:||The Tower of Fate: part 1|
We find out that something Kendra touched 2 years ago in an Egyptian tomb transformed her into HawkGirl. At the same time Khalid discovers the Helm of Nabu.
Back in the realm of Nabu (or whatever magical realm it is) we find Karel Wotan explaining everything to Flash, Khalid & Jay’s mother. He explains what magic is, and his plans for them. He is to hold Jay’s mother hostage on to death, if they don’t return Nabu’s Helmet to him. Flash attacks but id magically subdued. While attacking Flash Wotan detects Flash’s gift is magic in nature and that he too can enter the Tower of Fate with Khalid. Wotan himself can not enter the Tower as it is protected from him.
Khalid explains hows he’s spent his life studying magic but thought it was all just myth. He explains the history of the Tower of Fate and his desire to keep the helm as far away from himself as possible.
So Wotan gives them an ultimatum, retrieve the helm for him or he’ll kill Jay’s mother. He then teleports them into the Tower of Fate. They start their search in the immense tower.
Meanwhile in China Alan grieves with Sam’s father, and he learns Sam was the target of the train crash not Aln as he’d thought. Alan, as Green Lantern goes on a rampage looking for the ones responsible but no leads… So in his desperation he turns to …. HawkGirl.
In the tower of Fate Flash and Khalid come across “the Great Beast”. I very large, red demon looking animal.
Not much to say on this one. Sam was the target is interesting. Touching on Sam’s father’s disapproval of Sam and Alan’s relationship was a nice touch to the story. Alan’s rage is becoming apparent. Swallowing his pride and asking for help was a favourite moment for me. And lets see what this red demon looking thing is all about next week.
Oh and this comic includes a mini Constantine comic inside it.
