|Story/s:||The Dark Age part 3|
Superman flies off with his 3 captive; The Flash, Terry Sloan & Mr Terrific. Dr Fate is still rumbling nonsense which may actually be prophetic but can’t be understood. A dark cloud forms over the sun then Red Arrow realises its no cloud it’s an army of parademons. An Army of parademons lead by Beguiler.
Down in the lower levels of the Arkham Word Army Base, Batman, Major Sato, Queen Marella, James Olsen and Red Tornado make their way to leave the base when Olsen says they can’t leave that there is an alien … maybe a Martian… in the sub basement. Sato protests there is no sub basement but then Red Tornado detects life forms below them. Queen Marella makes a hole in the floor and leads them downstairs where he is fired on by an energy cannon that barely scratches her.
They all enter the sub basement, ready for anything they open the main doors to find a polite young man offering them tea. He falls to the ground in pain and this is when Batman realises he’s Kryptonian as he’s wearing a kryptonite necklace under his suit.
In Washington DC Superman decides to make a point and take the Washington Monument and smashing it down into the White House. He then pronounces that Apokolips is dying and that the Gods need a new World… they need Earth. The weak will fall and the strong will serve Darkseid. Bedlam explains to Sloan and Holt that they are to build a Boom Tube big enough to move the entire earth into Apokolips space and they will do it under his control. They have been chosen as they have both found ways to travel between dimensions.
Red Tornado take Olsen and the Kryptonian back to the Batcave while Batman, Queen Marella and Major Sato are flown away by HawkGirl.
Epilogue: Steppenwolf’s death caused a great disaster that burn up a nation, killing millions in an instant. But among the dead something won’t die, can’t stay dead… something Green!
So this Batman is using the original Batcave. The mystery thickens. His confusion to being called Bruce is still strange. Now in a previous issue HawkGirl was captured so I’m curious as to how she escaped to be able to airlift Bats, Aqualady and Sato. Maybe we find out in the Annual which is next issue I’m reading. And is Val the Kryptonian up to the task of challenging the evil Superman?
