Scott Pilgrim is a graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O’Malley. It consists of six digest size black-and-white volumes, released between August 2004, and July 2010; all are published by Portland-based independent comic book publisher Oni Press. The name “Scott Pilgrim” originates from a song by the all-girl, Halifax, Nova Scotia, ’90s band Plumtree, who used a mix of the names Scott Ingram, a chartered accountant in Toronto for indie rock bands, and Philip Pilgrim, a Nova Scotian music producer.

The series is about 23-year-old Canadian Scott Pilgrim, a slacker, hero, and part-time bassist who is living in Toronto and plays bass guitar in the band “Sex Bob-omb.” He falls in love with American delivery girl Ramona V. Flowers, but must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her.

Michael Austin Cera plays the lead role in the movie adaption as Scott Pilgrim and does a wonderful job, although he is basically the same character he was in Juno.  Which don’t get me wrong… it works.

Awesome movie that anyone over 25 should see. Note: while in the cinema some younger movie goers actually walked out half way through, but myself and all the 25+ers enjoyed a great movie  🙂

I can’t say I’ve ever read the comics, but after seeing this movie, i have now started placing bids on them on ebay.  Oh yes…. they will be mine.
